  • Drawbacks of the stich trial
    • STICH I
      • Timing of Surgery – The median time from onset to treatment for early surgery group was 30 hours (interquartile range, 16 to 49 hours)
      • Volume of haematoma – All patients >2cm could be enrolled. Volume (IQR 24-60ml).
      • Cross overs were not accounted.
    • STICH II
      • Large number of patients screened (3948 patients) – best motor score on the Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) of 5 or 6, and had a best eye score of 2 or more (ie, were conscious at randomisation).
      • Range of volume of hematoma (10–100ml)
      • Time to ictus from surgery 26 (15∙3–35∙3; 2∙5–69∙0)
