- A–C: The TTGA and the thalamic surface immediately exposed are highlighted using our 3D virtual model.
- D: Anatomical dissection showing the relevant cerebral cortical surface landmarks after a temporal craniotomy including the right superior, middle, and inferior temporal gyri and the vein of Labbé.
- E: Lateral view of an anatomical dissection after a wide craniotomy showing the approximate location of the right temporal horn, 3 cm from the temporal pole deep to the middle temporal gyrus. Other anatomical structures are shown, importantly the inferior anastomotic vein (vein of Labbé) and the superior anastomotic vein (vein of Trolard).
- F: Anatomical dissection of the right temporal lobe and inferior horn of the lateral ventricle after mobilizing the hippocampus and choroid plexus laterally, exposing the choroidal fissure between the thalamus and the fornix and providing a clear view of the inferior surface of the thalamus.
Using a modified Middle temporal gyrus approach
- Modified trans-MTG approach. A shortest trajectory to reach trigonal or paratrigonal tumor was made under the neuronavigation guidance. Photographic image shows modified trans-MTG incision within 5 mm to the STS.
- M : MTG S : superior temporal gyrus, Dotted line : modified trans-MTG incision, Solid line : superior temporal sulcus,
- MTG : middle temporal gyrus STS : superior temporal sulcus.
